I always track in parallel with Windsportracker and a Garmin Fenix. Mainly because you can better evaluate the frequency and length of glide routes or routes in Garmin Connect (I like everything else in Windsportracker much better - great app!) as well as an additional backup. During my session today, my Garmin Fenix stopped recording in the middle, and I wanted to upload the GPX file from Windsportracker. However, I keep getting an error message when uploading. Is there a solution for this?
Hello Thomas,
Thank you for the feedback.
I myself still handle it the same way you do, but it will be much easier with the new version.
As far as I know, uploads to Garmin are only possible with GPX 1.1 files. However, WST uses 1.0 files because only these contain sufficient data. GPX 1.1 was reduced to a minimum, and all additional information, including speed, must be provided through custom extensions.
The most one could do is convert the WST GPX file to GPX 1.1 using another program. But then you would lose everything except the coordinates, meaning your speed data could be displayed very incorrectly in Garmin.
In Version 2, you can now export GPX 1.0 and GPX 1.1.
These adhere exactly to the standards, so importing should no longer be a problem.
