Session started, but "disappeared"

I logged in last Sunday and left the app running with location on my phone.

Arrived at the spot i knew i had no internet connection. I could start a session. It seemed to work as it was recording for a few minutes, so i put the phone around my arm and went windsurfing. When i stopped i wanted to end the recording, but there was no session found to stop the recording. The app only asked to accept the conditions of the app. The app regarded me as a new user, since i have no internet connection at the spot. Back home with internet connection, i could login into the app, but couldnt find the session that i had started on Easter Sunday….

Hi Ray,

just to clarify — when you say there was no session found to stop: do you mean that when you came back from the water and opened the app, you were only shown a screen asking you to accept the terms and conditions?

If so, your session is most likely not lost. Here’s what to do:

Open the app and go to the logbook. In the top right next to the word “Logbook” you’ll see a double-arrow icon — tap that. (The fact that this icon is visible indicates there are local sessions that haven’t been transferred to your logbook yet.) This will take you to the recording screen, where you should see a list of local sessions — most likely just one entry with a date in the format year-month-day-time.

At the end of that entry there’s another double-arrow icon. Tap it to transfer the session to your logbook. If the session wasn’t ended cleanly, you may need to tap it a second time.

Could you try these steps and let me know whether the session shows up?

I’m getting the same issues with version 2. It stops after a few minutes if there’s no internet connection and complains about the free trial ending even though I have an account set up. I may have to go back to v1 to record the sessions

Yes, that was what happened.

When i tap this double arrow icon, it takes me to the recording screen, but there are no sessions there. There are 3 empty pages, and every page mentions only “waiting”

Thanks for confirming. I’ve identified a bug affecting offline recording and a fix is already in progress — a new release will follow shortly.

Regarding the recording screen showing only “waiting”: you should normally see a Pause button at the bottom. Press this button, then press Stop — you should then be back on the main screen with your session listed there. If you do not see a Pause button, could you please send me a screenshot of what you see, and also let me know which version of the app you have installed (long-press the app icon on the launcher, tap the “i” or “Info” option, and scroll to the bottom — you should see a version number such as 2.0.16). Additionally, what phone model do you have and which Android version is installed? That will help us narrow down the issue.

I could follow your instructions and have the session, but it is only a few minutes long. The first few minutes. In version 1 i always put on screen saver before i put the phone in the aquapac and the session continued. So that i would not accidently touch the screen. I did that as well for my first session in v2. Could that have triggere to end the session?

That is great to hear!

Regarding the session length: yes, the screensaver is likely the cause. When the screen turns off, some devices aggressively kill background processes to save battery — this would cut the recording short. To prevent this, please make sure battery optimizations are disabled and the app is whitelisted for background usage.

Instructions for your specific device can be found here:

Also make sure all app permissions and notifications are enabled.

Quick update: the fix for the offline recording bug is ready and has been submitted to Google and Apple for review — it’s been waiting there for about a day now. I’ll let you know as soon as it goes live.

Android version 2.0.17 is out now. It fixes the issue with offline recording.
