A Few Definitions

Hello,
I’ve done a few sessions with WindSportTracker…
I like this app but I would need some definitions or a bit of help to understand the basics

  • I think I understood the different ranking categories for speeds :ok_hand: There’s just the alpha categories for which I would prefer a definition

  • I saw another thread with the color scheme. Ok :+1: (as a suggestion it would be good if the scale was recalled or recallable on the graph)

  • I would like to know how the “planning speed” is calculated

  • I love the speed polar… but I have a small scaling issue. I don’t know how to share screenshots. I took two of them on two consecutive sessions. The second one goes up to 24 kts. The polar is well developed. The scale of the second one goes up to 60kts. Suffice it to say that the polar is tiny in the middle. I think it’s because the GPS picked up an aberrant point (a peak at 46kt while I’m sailing mainly up to 20-23 kt)

I may come back to ask for some other definitions, but anyway, big thanks for this app which is already very good.
I’ll come back a bit later to suggest some improvements, but I’ve seen that you already have plenty of ideas ^^

Hello!

Thank you very much for this excellent feedback, and please excuse my late reply.

For the alpha values, this refers to a course that includes a jibe. So Alpha 500 means 500m in a jibe. The starting point and ending point can only be separated by 100m. So it’s approximately 250m of jibing and 250m of straight sailing again.

The colors will be integrated in the next version

The speed depends on the sport and discipline.

Did you record the session with your mobile phone?
I’m working on improving the elimination of discrepancies even further.
It’s important that the GPS has as clear a view of the sky as possible and is worn in a place with minimal vibrations. A waterproof case, such as from Fidlook, on the upper arm works very well.

Thank you very much, feedback is always welcome
