Record notes on equipment

Hello.

In version 1, I could make notes about the equipment. These were also cleverly divided into setup high/medium/low. The notes were also taken over from V2. Unfortunately, it seems that I can no longer register new notes in V2 or change the old notes. Is that correct or can I open, change or extend the notes on the equipment somewhere?

Thanks and regards

Michael

Hello Michael,

you are right: notes for equipment are not displayed or can not be created in the current version.

In V2, the focus is initially on Labels. The idea behind this is to make typical settings or conditions reusable in a structured way instead of hiding them as text in a single note.

Example:
Instead of a note like “when it’s very windy, set the outhaul to position 2”, you could create a label like StrongWind-Outhaul-2 and set it directly on all sails where this setting makes sense.

Another option is to label conditions, e.g. StrongWind, 20kn+, 15kn+, 10kn+ etc. This way, you can quickly see in the filter which setup worked well at which wind strength. Labels can also be combined, e.g. 20kn+ + Wave, if you use a different setup in waves than on the lake.

The advantage: You can find suitable setups much faster through filters than if such information is only in individual notes.

Nevertheless, I see the need for classic notes. The field for this is already prepared, and the existing notes from High, Mid and Low have been migrated there. With one of the next updates, I will also add the display and editing of notes again.

I hope this helps you for now.

Hi,

thank you for your response. The explanation of the labels is interesting, I hadn’t understood it that way before. I will try it out and am curious to see where I can use labels.

The notes are specific to me for sails and boards, and I like to note the settings for mast foot, extension, and clew. Since the fjord is not a standing area and there is no beach on site, the settings have to be as accurate as possible, adjusting on the water is tricky.

One more question, off-topic: Where can I see the available wind strength in the new version?

Thank you very much and best regards,

Michael

Hi,

I see the point and will include it in one of the next updates.

Regarding wind strength, it is not currently displayed, but it is something that is planned for the future. However, it will only be about documenting the wind strength retrospectively, not about forecasting or similar.

The new version is the basis for many ideas that will come gradually, also thanks to the feedback here.
