The icon on the turn shows left, but the turn goes right?
This is because there is no left and right on the water—only port and starboard. In our sports, this means: for port, your left hand or foot is in front; for starboard, your right hand or foot is in front. This depends on where the wind is coming from.
To help you better remember this, the icon in the list provides a visual hint: for port, the left side is shown in front; for starboard, the right side is shown in front. The icon does not indicate the direction of the turn. Using left and right to indicate turn direction would not make sense either, as you can rotate the map.
To better understand this, use the polar plot and switch it to wind clock mode.
